Nilüfer Mayor moves to advance stalled Ekokent zoning plans
Nilüfer Mayor Şadi Özdemir has announced that the municipality will move forward with the Ekokent (Western Development Zone) zoning plans, which have been stalled for 18 months at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality level. Citing the Zoning Law, which states that plans not decided upon within three months are considered approved, Özdemir intends to put the plans on public display next week to address urgent transportation and urban needs.
Özdemir noted that the Ekokent process has been ongoing for approximately 15 years. He criticized attempts to reduce density or shift green spaces, arguing such changes would violate established rights and lead to further legal delays.
In separate local developments, Akdeniz Deputy Mayor Murat Beşikci visited the Adanalıoğlu Culture and Art House to encourage women to participate in vocational training and met with local residents to discuss community needs, including a proposed condolence house project and agricultural road improvements.
