Muratpaşa Belediyespor ice hockey team prepares for championships

The Muratpaşa Belediyespor ice hockey team held a preparation match at the Dağyakası Ice Rink ahead of the Turkish Championship and the April 23 Minikler Tournament. The club currently consists of 41 licensed athletes ranging in age from 3 to 15, preparing for U8, U10, and U12 category competitions.

A notable feature of the team is the high participation of female athletes, who outnumber males and hold various positions, including goaltender. In addition to ice hockey, the club offers hobby groups and artistic ice skating.

Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal, who attended the match, emphasized the growing demand for ice sports in Antalya. He called on public authorities and the state budget to invest in an Olympic-standard ice rink to meet the community's needs, noting that the current facility is the only natural ice rink in the Mediterranean region.
