Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal discusses socio-economic challenges at book launch
Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal held a promotional event in Ankara for his new book, ‘21. Yüzyılda Yeniden Cumhuriyet’ (The Republic Again in the 21st Century). The event was attended by several high-ranking officials from the Republican People's Party (CHP).
During the discussion, Uysal addressed Turkey's current socio-economic challenges, highlighting a deepening crisis of trust and a significant gap in technology, capital, and innovation. He noted that the country is struggling to keep pace with global production levels and pointed to a massive trade deficit.
Uysal expressed concern over social issues, stating that two-thirds of the population struggles with food costs and that three out of four young people wish to move abroad due to a perceived lack of future prospects. He characterized the current atmosphere as a widespread depression affecting the nation and emphasized that overcoming these issues requires investment in high technology, institutionalization, and digital infrastructure.
