Murcia cyclist attack: Driver detained after allegedly targeting group

A driver has been detained following a violent incident on the RM-F18 road in Murcia, Spain, where he allegedly targeted a group of five female cyclists. The incident occurred on a Sunday morning near the Venta de los Pino area.

Witnesses report that the vehicle approached at high speed and struck three of the cyclists. One victim was reportedly thrown onto the hood of the car, breaking the windshield, before the driver accelerated and ran over her. That individual is currently in intensive care. Survivors claim the driver paused briefly before attempting to strike the remaining cyclists again.

The Guardia Civil is investigating the theory that the attack was intentional. The suspect, who fled the scene before being apprehended, is reportedly an inmate serving a sentence for intentional homicide who was out on a temporary leave permit.
