Cyclist attacks in Spain
Overview
Authorities in Murcia have detained a driver following a violent incident on the RM-F18 road near Venta de los Pino. The driver allegedly targeted a group of five female cyclists, striking three of them at high speed.
Witnesses reported that one victim was thrown onto the vehicle's hood, breaking the windshield, before the driver accelerated and ran over her. That individual remains in intensive care. Survivors claim the driver paused briefly before attempting to strike the remaining cyclists again.
The Guardia Civil is investigating whether the attack was intentional. The suspect, who fled the scene before being apprehended, is reportedly an inmate serving a sentence for intentional homicide who was out on a temporary leave permit.
