Murcia extends medical program for international leukemia patients

The Murcia Health Service (SMS) has extended its collaboration agreement with the Spanish Foundation for the Fight against Leukemia (FELL). This program is unique among Spanish autonomous communities, providing specialized treatment to children with leukemia from disadvantaged countries where such care is unavailable due to economic or medical limitations.

Since the partnership began in 1994, the SMS has treated more than 150 children from 15 different countries, including Senegal, Peru, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic. Under the renewed agreement, regional public hospitals will provide treatment to an average of five minors per year suffering from leukemia or other malignant hematological diseases.
