Murcia renews leukemia treatment program for children from 15 countries

The Region of Murcia has renewed its collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for the Fight against Leukemia (FELL) to provide specialized medical care to children and adolescents from countries with limited access to healthcare. Through the Murcian Health Service (SMS), the program provides treatment for leukemia and other serious hematological diseases within the region's public hospital network.

Since the program's inception in 1994, more than 150 minors from 15 different countries have received specialized assistance. Notable countries of origin include the Dominican Republic, Senegal, Peru, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. The renewed agreement aims to maintain an average of five pediatric patients per year.

Murcia is currently the only autonomous community in Spain operating a program of this nature, focusing on reducing inequality in healthcare access for patients in economically disadvantaged areas.
