Museo Archivo de la Fotografía hosts cyanotype workshop

The Museo Archivo de la Fotografía, part of the Mexico City Ministry of Culture, held a workshop titled ‘Cianotipia Desde el Archivo’ (Cyanotype from the Archive) on August 15. Led by visual artist Jorge Díaz, the session allowed participants to experiment with the cyanotype process using images from the museum's collection alongside personal photographs and objects.

Cyanotype is a contact photographic printing process known for its distinct blue tones. Invented in 1842 by Sir John F. W. Herschel, the technique was originally used for reproducing mathematical tables but has since evolved into a medium for artistic expression. During the workshop, attendees created collages on paper and fabric using light-sensitive iron salts to achieve the characteristic cyan color.
