Museu da Terra de Miranda reopens after four-year renovation
The Museu da Terra de Miranda in Miranda do Douro has reopened following a four-year closure for requalification and expansion works. The renovation, which cost approximately two million euros and was largely funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), included the acquisition of three adjacent properties.
The museum is introducing a new museological experience that places the Mirandese language on equal footing with Portuguese. The updated exhibition focuses on both material and immaterial heritage, highlighting local history, arts, crafts, traditional clothing, music, and dance.
A free reopening program is scheduled through Sunday, featuring community performances, a temporary exhibition titled ‘Ramos de Oferenda da Terra de Miranda’, and guided visits by the Grupo Etnográfico do Centro Cultural de Sendim.
