Museu da Terra de Miranda to reopen after €2 million renovation

The Museu da Terra de Miranda in Miranda do Douro is scheduled to reopen to the public on October 10 following a four-year renovation and expansion project. The works, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and NORTE 2020, involved a total investment exceeding two million euros.

The museum has been redesigned as a space for discovery and community engagement, focusing on local identity, gastronomy, cutlery, coopering, and religious traditions. Notably, it will be the first museum in Portugal to feature the Mirandese language alongside Portuguese as a primary component of the visitor experience.

The reopening festivities will include the community performance ‘L’AMPEÇO’, the temporary exhibition ‘Ramos de Oferenda da Terra de Miranda’, and the presentation of the MONU project, which integrates Mirandese craftsmanship with contemporary design.
