Mexico celebrates Day of the Dead with regional festivities FAST-MOVING
Various regions across Mexico are hosting diverse cultural activities to commemorate Day of the Dead. In Morelia, Michoacán, tourists are visiting decorated plazas and public spaces, while the Urandén springs offer traditional canoe tours through candlelit channels known as ‘El camino de las ánimas’.
In Jalisco, the state government has organized workshops, concerts, and exhibitions across Guadalajara and several municipalities. Similarly, in Xalapa, Veracruz, large parades featuring Catrinas and Catrines are expected to draw thousands of participants. Other local celebrations include the Xantolo parade in Palma de la Cruz, the ‘Las Ánimas en el Bosque’ immersive experience in Hidalgo, and the ‘Festival de las Ánimas’ in Ozumba.
To ensure public safety during these high-attendance events, authorities have implemented significant security measures. Mexico City is deploying over 11,000 police officers to monitor 120 cemeteries, while Guerrero has mobilized over 500 security elements. In Colima, a coordinated operation involving the Navy, Army, and National Guard will oversee the 87th Feria de Todos los Santos. Additionally, municipal authorities in Cancún and Fresnillo are conducting maintenance and preventive inspections in cemeteries to prepare for visitors.
