Mushroom foraging season begins across Spain and France

The autumn mushroom foraging season is beginning across various regions in Spain, with local administrations activating permits and educational activities. In Zamora, the Micocyl program has opened sales for collection permits in the Montes del Noroeste mycological park and the Camarzana de Tera expansion area, covering over 27,000 hectares across 19 municipalities. Permit fees vary by user profile, ranging from 20 euros for two-day recreational use to 50 euros for seasonal commercial collectors.

Other Spanish regions, including Castilla y León, Navarra, and Asturias, are also preparing for the season with new online permit systems and training sessions.

In France, foraging activities extend beyond the traditional autumn months. A seasonal guide indicates that species like the Black Trumpet and Blue Foot can be found in damp woods during early months, while the Périgord Truffle is sought after in the spring. The arrival of April introduces new species such as the Morel in humid areas and near watercourses.
