The mushroom harvesting and foraging season in Spain and France has entered its active phase, though productivity remains contingent on environmental factors.

In Soria, Spain, the harvest faces a critical window due to a summer marked by high temperatures and low precipitation, with some areas receiving less than 25% of normal rainfall. Experts indicate that while recent mild temperatures and scattered rains are helpful, substantial rainfall—between 60 and 120 liters per square meter depending on the area—is necessary to ensure a successful season.

Across other Spanish regions, including Zamora, Castilla y León, Navarra, and Asturias, local administrations are preparing for the season by activating permit systems and educational programs. In Zamora, the Micocyl program has opened permit sales for over 27,000 hectares, with fees ranging from 20 euros for recreational use to 50 euros for seasonal commercial collectors.

In France, foraging activities vary by season and species, with damp woods providing species like the Black Trumpet and Blue Foot, while other areas focus on the Périgord Truffle in spring or Morels in humid environments.
