Mushroom prices in Poland show significant regional variations

Mushroom prices in Poland are showing significant regional variations during the current harvest season. In the Małopolska region, prices are notably high, with porcini mushrooms (borowiki) ranging from 60 to 90 PLN per kilogram, and chanterelles (kurki) costing approximately 60 PLN per kilogram. Other varieties like bay boletes (podgrzybki) are priced between 50 and 70 PLN per kilogram.

In contrast, the Łódź Voivodeship reports different pricing structures, such as a five-liter bucket of mixed mushrooms costing around 100 PLN. In Radom, prices appear lower, with large containers of chanterelles priced at 18 PLN. In the Pomeranian region, an abundance of chanterelles has led to a decrease in market prices, with some wholesalers purchasing them for 12 PLN per kilogram, though retail prices remain significantly higher.

Dried mushrooms command much higher prices, with dried porcini reaching approximately 300 PLN per kilogram due to the high volume of fresh mushrooms required for production. Experts note that the current season represents the first autumn harvest, with a potential second wave expected between late September and October.
