Musi River project eviction notices spark protests in Bandlaguda Jagir

Residents of Madhu Park Ridge Apartments in Bandlaguda Jagir have launched protests following eviction notices issued by the Rajendranagar Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO). The notices demand that residents vacate the complex to facilitate the Musi River rejuvenation project.

Apartment owners have refused to vacate, demanding clarity on compensation and rehabilitation proposals from the Telangana government. Residents previously filed a writ petition in the Telangana High Court against the land acquisition. While a February land acquisition notification included 6.34 acres of the apartment's land, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had previously stated to the Legislative Council that the Gandhi Sarovar project could proceed without acquiring the apartment land.

Residents expressed frustration over the lack of communication, noting that officials failed to address previously submitted objections. One resident, Anita, stated, “Instead of discussing the objections we had given, he was talking about Award I and Award II and said that they would pay compensation. He was not asking for our suggestions or answering our objections.” Concerns were also raised regarding the short notice provided for residents to appear before revenue officials.
