Music festivals and competitions announced for Romania in August 2026

The George Enescu International Competition is offering a wide range of free public events from August 23 to September 19, 2026. Under the theme ‘In search of excellence’, the program includes international masterclasses, open rehearsals, and contemporary composition sessions. These events will take place at venues such as Sala Radio, Ateneul Român, and the National University of Music in Bucharest, allowing the public to observe the artistic process behind major performances.

Artistic Director Cristian Măcelaru will lead an international conducting masterclass between August 24 and 28 at Sala Radio, featuring six young conductors and the Romanian Youth Orchestra.

Additionally, the Ipotești Memorial Center is organizing the 4th edition of the ‘Seri Eminesciene’ National Folk Music Festival-Competition. Scheduled for August 21-23, 2026, the event focuses on music, film, poetry, and visual arts, specifically targeting children and young performers.
