Musical band competitions conclude in Samaniego and Guayaquil

Musical competitions for youth have concluded in Samaniego, Colombia, and Guayaquil, Ecuador.

In Samaniego, the XLII Departmental Musical Band Contest concluded with five winning groups across various categories, including Infantil, Basic, Youth, Academic Festive, and Traditional Festive. Supported by a 350 million peso investment from the Nariño Government and Aguardiente Nariño, the event featured 30 bands. Four winners have earned the right to represent the department at the 52nd National Musical Band Contest in Paipa in 2026, while one will participate in the national contest in Vianí, Cundinamarca.

In Guayaquil, the second edition of the Copa Juventud concluded at the Samanes Park Acoustic Shell. The competition involved 1,700 participants from 24 marching bands across different sectors of the city. The Alpha y Omega band secured first place, followed by the Speedwrithing Educational Unit in second. Organized by the Guayaquil Municipality, the initiative aims to provide spaces for youth participation and strengthen skills through music, art, and culture.
