Musical and cultural events in Colombia and Ecuador

Musical events and cultural initiatives have taken place in Samaniego, Colombia, and Guayaquil, Ecuador.

In Samaniego, the XLII Departmental Musical Band Contest concluded with 30 bands competing across several categories, including Infantil, Basic, Youth, Academic Festive, and Traditional Festive. Supported by the Nariño Government and Aguardiente Nariño, the competition resulted in five winning groups, with several earning the right to represent the department at national contests in Paipa and Vianí.

In Guayaquil, youth-focused musical activities included the second edition of the Copa Juventud at Samanes Park Acoustic Shell, which featured 1,700 participants from 24 marching bands. The Alpha y Omega band took first place in the competition organized by the Guayaquil Municipality.

Further cultural programming in Guayaquil included a performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, ‘Titan,’ by the Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra at the San Antonio de Padua church. Additionally, the ‘Cultura en Movimiento’ program held a tribute at the Olmedo Cultural Center to honor six prominent Ecuadorian singers for their contributions to the nation’s cultural identity.
