Musimundo closes multiple stores and lays off workers across Northeast Argentina
The appliance retailer Musimundo, operated by CARSA S.A., is undergoing a massive contraction across Northeast Argentina (NEA), resulting in numerous store closures and significant job losses. The company is currently in a preventive bankruptcy process (concurso preventivo) and faces a debt exceeding 63.5 billion pesos, exacerbated by falling domestic consumption and high operational costs.
In Corrientes, multiple locations including branches in the capital, Goya, Paso de los Libres, and Curuzú Cuatiá have closed, affecting dozens of employees. Similar closures have been reported in Chaco, specifically in Resistencia, Barranqueras, Fontana, and Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña. In Misiones, branches in Posadas, Eldorado, Apóstoles, Leandro N. Alem, and Jardín América have also ceased operations.
Workers have reported being notified of their dismissals verbally before receiving formal legal notices. While some locations remain open briefly to collect installment payments from existing customers, regular sales have stopped. The company's official website has also been placed under maintenance, reflecting the operational paralysis.
