Muskegon River rescue finds three stranded tubers

A search and rescue team from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has successfully located three people who were stranded for three days after a river tubing accident on the Muskegon River.

The group, consisting of Sarah Vida, 28, her son Kayden Kovalcik, 9, and Jazmin Hock, 28, went missing near Twin Lake after their tubes popped upon hitting logs. The trio was found approximately seven miles from their entry point, navigating through dense brush, switchgrass, and stinging nettles.

Rescuers reported that the group had very limited supplies, including a broken phone and a single water bottle with very little water remaining. Conservation officers used footprints and broken vegetation to track the group to their location in the woods.
