Turkish municipalities upgrade water and wastewater infrastructure
Municipalities in Turkey are conducting extensive infrastructure projects to improve water and wastewater services. In Balıkesir, the Balıkesir Water and Sewerage Administration (BASKİ) has completed a new 1,600-meter drinking water transmission line in Dursunbey's Reşadiye neighborhood, ending long-term reliance on water tankers.
In Muğla, the Muğla Water and Sewerage Administration (MUSKİ) is replacing a 6,000-meter drinking water line in the Kayacık neighborhood of Seydikemer. The project involves installing 3,200 meters of 110 mm UPVC transmission line and 2,800 meters of 65 mm HDPE network line. Moving the pipes from agricultural lands to roadsides will allow for faster maintenance and resolve pressure issues caused by calcification and insufficient pipe diameters.
In Mardin, the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (MARSU) has renewed a 1,000-meter section of a nearly 50-year-old wastewater main collector in Kızıltepe. The capacity of the line was doubled by replacing a 300 mm diameter pipe with a 600 mm diameter pipe, aiming to prevent overflows during heavy winter rains and reduce wastewater discharge into the Zergan Stream.
