Mussolente jewelry store robbery leaves owner feeling 'at war
A band of thieves attacked the Nuovi Gioielli jewelry shop in Mussolente on the night of 10 July 2026. Using a stolen vehicle and a tractor from a nearby farm, they rammed the gate and smashed the reinforced doors. Inside, they detonated an improvised explosive to breach the safe, but the safe withstood the blast and the robbers fled empty‑handed. The attack caused extensive damage to the premises but no merchandise was taken.
Owner Ivano Torresan told reporters he feels abandoned by the state and politicians, saying, “Io in questo momento mi sento in guerra” (I feel at war). He expressed frustration at the lack of support for local businesses facing violent crime.
Police are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been reported yet.
