Mustafa Bozbey faces up to 402‑year prison term in massive Bursa corruption case

Turkish prosecutors in Bursa completed an 862‑page indictment alleging a bribery and fraud network worth 15.9 billion Turkish lira (about $784 million). The indictment names Mustafa Bozbey as the alleged crime‑ring leader and seeks a sentence of up to 402 years in prison. Investigators documented 39 individuals and seven companies, linking them to 213 properties and 35 vehicles obtained with illicit proceeds. The companies VEREV İnşaat and SERES Gayrimenkul, believed to be controlled by Bozbey’s relatives, were used as front‑ends for the scheme. Property deeds for two SERES‑registered parcels were found in Bozbey’s bedroom, contradicting his claim of no connection.

A separate MASAK analysis highlighted the rapid growth of SERES Gayrimenkul, founded in 2015 with a 100 000‑lira capital, and its acquisition of nine Nilüfer properties at prices far above market rates. Documents show Bozbey’s brother Ramiz sharing the firm’s address, and municipal officials employed by Bursa’s mayoral office appearing in its payroll records. The report also noted abnormal cash flows, missing tax filings, and a sharp increase in sales after Bozbey joined the firm. Bozbey denies any wrongdoing.
