Mustafa Çiftçi chairs security summit to strengthen crime prevention

Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi chaired a security summit to evaluate the current state of public order services and plan future law enforcement strategies. The meeting focused on addressing crimes against persons and property, as well as combating theft, looting, and armed attacks involving motorcycles.

Minister Çiftçi emphasized a shift toward a preventive security model. This approach aims to combine intelligence capacity, technological resources, and field experience with data analysis and scientific methods to identify risks before crimes occur. He specifically noted that there will be no gaps in the fight against violence against women.

Key strategic objectives discussed include: • Increasing joint operations between narcotics, traffic, intelligence, and public order units to combat new-generation crime gangs. • Implementing province-based special planning to capture individuals wanted for serious crimes. • Targeting the sources, procurement methods, and distribution chains of unlicensed firearms.

Çiftçi stated that while progress has been made in reducing certain crime rates, the ministry is entering a new phase of operations to further strengthen combat capacity.
