Muswellbrook Shire opens 2027 Australia Day Award nominations

The Muswellbrook Shire Council has opened nominations for the 2027 Australia Day Awards to recognize individuals and groups making outstanding contributions to the community. The awards aim to acknowledge those who provide voluntary service, leadership, or innovation across various sectors.

There are 10 award categories for the 2027 ceremony, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sustainability Award, Arts and Culture Award, and the Northoak Agricultural Award. Other categories cover sports, including team and individual achievements for both junior and senior levels.

Mayor Jeff Drayton encouraged residents to nominate neighbors, community members, or local organization contributors who often work without seeking recognition. To be eligible, individual nominees must be Australian citizens residing within the Muswellbrook Shire Council area.
