México Canta 2026 announces first finalists after Los Angeles semifinal
The binational music initiative ‘México Canta por la Paz y contra las adicciones 2026’ has announced its first finalists following a semifinal held at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California. More than 300,000 people participated in the live voting process via the official platform.
Mexican-American contestants Tiffany Galaviz, Joshua Soto, and Rosalba Valdéz have been selected to advance to the grand final, which is scheduled for September 13 at the Auditorio Nacional. The event, coordinated by the Mexican Ministry of Culture and the Mexican Music Council, aims to preserve traditional Mexican musical genres and provide a platform for youth to share their identities without promoting violence.
The Los Angeles semifinal featured performances by seven contestants and included special appearances by the group Los Tigres del Norte and host Majo Aguilar. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to address social causes through cultural engagement and the strengthening of ties between Mexican and Mexican-American communities.
