Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing to visit Vietnam

Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing and his spouse will conduct an official visit to Vietnam from September 4 to 6, 2026. The visit follows an invitation from Vietnamese General Secretary and President Tô Lâm.

This diplomatic engagement follows recent meetings between Foreign Ministers Lê Hoài Trung and Tin Maung Swe, who co-chaired the 10th Session of the Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation. The two nations have agreed to restore cooperation mechanisms and aim to reach a bilateral trade volume of $1 billion.

Key areas of focus include strengthening cooperation against narcotics and cybercrime, as well as improving regional connectivity. Minister Lê Hoài Trung has proposed coordinating with Laos to enhance transport routes to strengthen connectivity within mainland Southeast Asia. Both countries are working toward the tenth anniversary of their Comprehensive Partnership in 2027.
