MyDr cyberattack threatens data of 19 million Poles

The Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs has reported a major security breach involving MyDr, a medical software provider. According to Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, hackers gained access to the data of nearly 19 million Polish citizens.

The compromised information, primarily from data stored up until April 2024, may include names, addresses, PESEL numbers, insurance details, and health information. Affected patients are beginning to receive notifications regarding the leak and potential risks, such as financial fraud or identity theft.

Authorities recommend that individuals consider reserving their PESEL numbers through the mObywatel service or local municipal offices to prevent unauthorized use. Under GDPR regulations, individuals who have suffered damages due to the incident may be entitled to seek compensation.
