Mykhailo Fedorov defines Ukraine-Russia conflict as technological war

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has characterized the ongoing conflict with Russia as a ‘technological war.’ In an interview, Fedorov emphasized that Ukraine must outpace Russia in every technological cycle to determine the war’s outcome, noting the critical role of rapid innovation in drones, robots, and missiles.

Fedorov, a former tech entrepreneur, was removed from his position in mid-July following a dispute with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s top general, Oleksandr Syrskyi. The dismissal triggered nationwide protests, and Zelenskyy subsequently removed Syrskyi from his post as well. Despite his ouster, Fedorov is credited with significantly increasing Ukraine’s deep strikes into Russian territory and strengthening the nation’s domestic arsenal.

Recent developments include the use of domestically produced Flamingo missiles to strike Russian facilities, such as a space agency facility in Samara. Fedorov estimated that Ukraine’s own ballistic missiles could be capable of striking targets within Russia in approximately three to six months.
