A major fire broke out on the Greek-flagged Ro-Ro cargo ship Blue Carrier 2 on Friday, September 25, 2026, while it was sailing in the Aegean Sea north of Mykonos. The fire, which reportedly began in a truck located in garage number 4, caused significant damage to the vessel, which is operated by Attica Group.

All 29 people on board, consisting of 28 crew members and one truck driver, were successfully evacuated via lifeboats and rescue vessels. They were subsequently transported to the island of Tinos, where they underwent precautionary medical examinations and were reported to be in good health.
