Myślenice and Rybnik approve multimillion‑zloty bike‑bridge projects

The municipality of Myślenice will replace its 50‑year‑old hanging bridge with a new pedestrian‑cycle bridge over the Raba River. The project, funded with about 11.5 million zł in subsidies and costing a total of over 13.5 million zł, is intended to meet safety standards and enable mass events on the Zarabie recreation area. A second bridge over the Kobylak stream and a kilometre of illuminated Velo Raba cycling path are also planned, with construction scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.

In Rybnik, a former sand‑railway line is being converted into a 9‑km mixed‑use bike and foot trail. The investment, estimated at 55 million zł (about half financed by EU funds), includes the refurbishment of two steel bridges, a concrete viaduct, LED lighting, bike‑rack and e‑bike charging stations, and ancillary amenities such as skateparks and rest areas. The new route will be fully separated from motor‑vehicle traffic, providing a safe, scenic corridor for cyclists and pedestrians across forested terrain.
