Netherlands imposes multiple road closures for summer 2026 infrastructure works

Road users in the Netherlands will face several temporary closures and detours during late June and early July 2026 as authorities carry out maintenance and expansion works on major routes.

The N201 will be closed overnight from 25 June 20:00 to 26 June 05:00 at the Amstel Aquaduct, with additional night closures of the Waterwolftunnel between Aalsmeer and Haarlemmermeer on 26‑28 June. Drivers are advised to use the A2, A4 and A9 as detours and expect longer travel times.

The Heinenoordtunnel (A29) near the Hoeksche Waard will be shut for two consecutive nights—23 June 23:00–24 June 05:00 and 24 June 23:00–25 June 05:00—requiring diversions via the A15, A16, A17, A59 and A4. Extra travel time may reach 15‑30 minutes.

The renovated Prinses Irenebrug in Uithoorn reopened to traffic on 18 June, offering improved lanes for cyclists, pedestrians and motor vehicles across the Amstel‑Drechtkanaal.

On the A2 near Born, several on‑ and off‑ramps (exits 47a, 47c, 47d) will be closed between 29 June and 3 July, with additional closures on 8‑10 July for work on a temporary access road and lane resurfacing. Detour signs will guide traffic, and an additional ten‑minute delay should be anticipated.
