Nacional Monte de Piedad adjusts sales schedule amid ongoing labor strike
Nacional Monte de Piedad has announced a modified sales and auction calendar for pledged items due to an ongoing labor strike that has suspended operations since October 1, 2025. The adjustment specifically benefits contracts originally scheduled for commercialization in October 2026, granting customers additional months to settle payments or renew loans before items are offered for public sale.
Under the new schedule, the first items will be eligible for commercialization on March 17, 2027, with the final adjusted items reaching that stage by March 20, 2027. The institution noted that this extension is not a general deadline for all contracts; customers must refer to their specific original commercialization dates.
As the labor conflict approaches its one-year mark, customers have begun filing complaints with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco). Many users are demanding the return of items they claim to have already paid for, but cannot retrieve due to the continued suspension of normal services. Meanwhile, union representatives continue negotiations with the Ministry of Labor regarding collective bargaining agreements.
