Nacional Monte de Piedad to reopen branches after 364-day strike
Nacional Monte de Piedad will reopen its more than 300 branches across Mexico on October 7, following the conclusion of a 364-day labor strike. The strike, which began on October 1, 2025, stemmed from a long-standing dispute regarding salary reviews and collective bargaining agreements dating back to 2021.
The resolution was reached through an integral ruling mediated by the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS). The agreement must now undergo ratification by the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration.
To assist customers in regularizing pending pawn loans, the institution announced a 45-day period without interest charges starting from the reopening date. Additionally, discounts on interest generated during the closure period will be applied based on individual customer histories. Operations will include pawning, renewals, payments, and the recovery of items.
