Nadia Beller accuses Fernando Cerimedo of ordering shooting attack

Nadia Beller, an activist and lawyer, is recovering from a shooting in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. Beller, who is four to six weeks pregnant, was targeted by two attackers in what she describes as a ‘state crime’ intended to silence her regarding her knowledge of political connections in Bolivia and Argentina.

Beller has accused her former partner, Fernando Cerimedo—a political consultant and former advisor to Argentine President Javier Milei—of instigating the attack. Cerimedo is currently in preventive detention for 180 days following charges of attempted femicide. Beller alleges that Cerimedo maintained close ties with Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz, even assisting in the preparation of presidential messages.

New details have emerged regarding a man dressed in civilian clothes who allegedly attempted to enter Beller’s hospital room while she was being treated, claiming to be a police officer. Beller has demanded that Bolivian authorities identify this individual, noting that his description matches a person seen in footage from the day of the attack. Bolivian police have recently detained a man and a woman suspected of involvement in the incident.
