Nadia Comăneci celebrates 50 years since historic perfect 10 with nationwide events

Romania is marking the 50th anniversary of Nadia Comăneci’s first perfect 10 in Olympic gymnastics with a series of public events. On 16 July 2026, the former champion will appear in Slatina at the ALRO stadium for the “Together for Excellence” program organized by the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee. The schedule includes a dialogue and Q&A session with children, a personal award ceremony for participants, and sport and artistic demonstrations.

The same day, the National Archives in Bucharest will open the exhibition “Nadia Comăneci – The Road to Perfection”. The show, running until 12 November, presents photographs, documents and memorabilia tracing Comăneci’s career and the cultural significance of her historic score. Admission is free and the exhibition is part of the broader “Year of Nadia Comăneci” initiative officially launched for 2026.
