NADRA introduces digital services for CNIC renewal and birth registration

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has expanded its digital service offerings in Pakistan through the Pak ID mobile application. Citizens can now renew expired Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) directly via the app or the official NADRA online portal.

Renewal through the Pak ID app involves biometric verification via smartphone camera, document uploads, and fee payment through mobile wallets or cards. Users can select between normal, urgent, or executive processing modes and choose between home delivery or center pick-up.

Additionally, NADRA has enabled online child birth registration via the Pak ID app under the Provincial Civil Registration Services section. This feature allows parents to submit child details and family information to relevant local authorities, such as Union Councils or Municipal Committees, reducing the need for repeated in-person visits to registration offices.
