NADRA digital service expansion in Pakistan

Overview

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has implemented several initiatives to digitize identity and registration processes in Pakistan. Initially, the authority detailed requirements for first-time Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) applications and procedures for replacing lost B-Forms. During this period, the province of Sindh established an agreement to link its educational boards with NADRA to digitize records and prevent fraudulent degrees.

Subsequently, NADRA expanded its digital capabilities through the Pak ID mobile application. The authority introduced features allowing citizens to renew expired CNICs via smartphone biometric verification and document uploads. The app also enabled online child birth registration, allowing parents to submit family information to local authorities digitally to reduce the necessity of in-person visits.
