Nafpaktos hosts event celebrating Spanish culture

The Municipality of Nafpaktia is hosting a cultural event titled ‘Journey to Spanish Culture: Music, Dance, Poetry’ on October 9, 2026. Held at the former Xenia Nafpaktos building, the event is part of the celebrations for the 455th anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto.

The program features a piano duet by Zizi Korkontzelou and Konstantina Papageorgiou performing works by Spanish composers such as Joaquín Rodrigo, Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados, and Manuel de Falla. The musical performances will be accompanied by dancers Martha Karali and Valia Nasopoulou, while Spanish poetry will be recited by Fai Glava and Valia Nasopoulou.

The theme honors the historical connection between Spain and the Battle of Lepanto, specifically highlighting Spain's decisive role in the Holy League in 1571 through its artistic and cultural traditions.
