Nagaland Governor reviews recruitment reforms and challenges
Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav recently reviewed the operations of the state’s primary recruitment bodies, the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) and the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), in Kohima.
The NSSB reported progress in its mandate to conduct centralized recruitment for Grade III posts, having processed 1,734 advertised positions and selected 1,511 candidates. To improve transparency, the board has implemented digital measures such as online registration, e-admit cards, and the publication of answer keys. However, officials noted challenges including the need for better infrastructure, stronger data security, and a dedicated Information Technology cell to support a move toward a paperless ecosystem.
Simultaneously, the NPSC highlighted difficulties managing a rising number of applicants, specifically citing a shortage of manpower and suitable examination centers. The commission noted high application volumes for various services, including the Nagaland Civil Services and Allied Services Examination. To modernize, the NPSC has revised syllabi to better assess analytical and administrative aptitude and has successfully integrated its recruitment portals with DigiLocker.
