Nagaland launches special drive to enroll eligible voters

The Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland has launched a special drive across all assembly constituencies to ensure all eligible voters are included in the electoral roll. This initiative, coordinated with the Election Commission of India, aims to address discrepancies and facilitate the enrollment of citizens left out of the draft roll.

In Nagaland, the Special Intensive Revision has entered the claims-and-objections phase following the publication of the draft roll on September 20. The deadline for citizens to verify their names and file claims or objections is October 20, 2026. Officials noted that approximately 500,000 electors could receive notices regarding discrepancies when mapping details to the 2005 electoral roll. Additionally, 157,752 electors have been categorized as Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate (ASDD).

The drive utilizes a large workforce, including 17 District Election Officers, 44 Electoral Registration Officers, and 2,399 booth-level officers. Voters can use Form 6 for new registration, Form 7 for objections or deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or address changes.
