Nagoshi Studio leadership changes amid rumors of closure

Speculation has emerged regarding the status of Nagoshi Studio, the game development company led by Toshihiro Nagoshi. Andy Robinson, editor-in-chief of VGC, suggested in a podcast that the studio has effectively ceased to exist, noting rumors that Nagoshi may be seeking positions at other studios.

However, official corporate registry records indicate that the company still exists. While the studio's name and capital remain unchanged, there has been a significant shift in leadership. As of October 2026, Toshihiro Nagoshi and other previous directors have stepped down from their positions. The company is currently led by a single director, Minoru Morinaga, and the structure of the board of directors and auditors has been abolished.

Nagoshi Studio was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NetEase Games in 2022. The studio recently announced the title ‘GANG OF DRAGON’ at The Game Awards in late 2025, but reports suggest NetEase ceased funding in March 2026.
