Nagpur school watchman arrested for alleged sexual abuse of students

A night watchman at a residential ashram school in Pusagondi, Nagpur district, has been arrested following allegations of sexual abuse involving students. The accused faces charges under the POCSO Act, the Juvenile Justice Act, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The incident, which came to light in mid-August, prompted Nagpur Collector Kumar Ashirwad to order a comprehensive inquiry into the safety of the children residing at the facility. A special team from the Women and Child Development and Child Protection authorities is currently recording statements from all 260 students to determine if other incidents have occurred and to assess the overall safety of the school environment.
