Nahdlatul Ulama's Munas-Konbes 2026 convenes across Indonesia

The National Council (Munas) and Grand Conference (Konbes) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) opened on 20 June 2026 at Pondok Pesantren Al‑Falah Ploso in Kediri, East Java. The ceremony was led by Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar, with participation from KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Vice President KH Ma’ruf Amin and other senior ulama and government officials. The forum will discuss preparation for the 2026 Muktamar, covering issues such as mining governance, the Ahlul Halli wal Aqdi (AHWA) mechanism, management of Hajj funds, education, health and economic programmes, as well as organisational reforms. Senior kiai emphasized preserving NU’s khittah and warned against politicising the movement, echoing calls from PKB leader Gus Muhaimin. The closing session is scheduled for 23 July 2026 in Bangkalan, Madura, where President Prabowo Subianto is expected to attend.
