New York Giants sign running back Najee Harris to one-year deal
The New York Giants have signed veteran running back Najee Harris to a one-year contract following a recent workout. Harris, 28, joins the team as he recovers from a season-ending Achilles tendon injury sustained while playing for the Los Angeles Chargers last season.
Head coach John Harbaugh noted that Harris is not yet at 100 percent or in full football shape, suggesting his integration will be a gradual process. Harris, a former Pro Bowler who recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, expressed confidence in his recovery and eagerness to contribute to the Giants' physical running style.
To accommodate Harris on the roster, the Giants released wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Harris joins a crowded backfield that includes Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary. The move is seen as an effort by Harbaugh to bolster the team's rushing depth and align with his preferred offensive philosophy.
