Ünal Üstel unveils ‘Target 2033’ development vision for Northern Cyprus

Prime Minister and National Unity Party (UBP) leader Ünal Üstel has unveiled the ‘Target 2033’ vision, a comprehensive development plan aimed at marking the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The initiative focuses on economic stability, social welfare, and infrastructure modernization.

Key economic measures include reducing the cost of living by eliminating price discrepancies between Northern Cyprus and Turkey. Proposed actions involve zeroing VAT on essential consumer goods, supporting local production, and providing freight support for imported products. To assist families, Üstel announced plans for childcare support for working mothers, monthly assistance for women unable to work, and the construction of 15,000 social housing units.

Infrastructure and service goals include the relaunch of Cyprus Turkish Airlines (KTHY) by 2028, the implementation of General Health Insurance, the construction of new hospitals, and improvements to energy, internet, and transportation networks. The project announcements will be released in three separate stages to cover the full scope of the five-year plan.
