Nama Remy appointed president of Cameroon’s Constitutional Council
Cameroon has appointed Nama Remy as the new president of the Constitutional Council following a presidential decree. Remy, a magistrate and high-ranking official previously serving in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, succeeds Clément Atangana, who passed away at an American hospital in Paris.
Abdoulaye Daouda has also been appointed as a member of the Council. The transition follows the return of Atangana’s remains to Yaoundé, where he was received with official honors at the Nsimalen International Airport. Atangana, who served as the head of the institution for eight years, died at the age of 85.
Nama Remy’s professional background includes roles as a mission officer and legal affairs advisor within the Presidency. The rapid succession of these appointments follows the recent death of the former president, though the specific dates for the swearing-in ceremonies have not yet been confirmed.
