Namibia economy grows 4.8% in Q2 2026
Namibia’s economy experienced significant momentum in the second quarter of 2026, with real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanding by 4.8% year-on-year. This marks a sharp acceleration from the 1.7% growth recorded during the same period in 2025.
Tertiary industries served as the primary economic drivers, growing by 6.1% in real value added. Notable sector performance included health, which grew by 17.6%, and wholesale and retail trade, which rose by 9.0%. Other contributing sectors included information and communication, financial services, hotels and restaurants, and real estate.
Primary industries also saw improvement, with a 3% increase in real value added compared to a 2.4% decline in the second quarter of 2025. This growth was driven by the agriculture, forestry, fishing, and fish processing sectors. Additionally, secondary industries grew by 0.8%, supported by a 3.9% increase in the manufacturing sector.
