Overview
Namibia experienced economic and sectoral growth during the second quarter of 2026. The national economy saw real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expand by 4.8% year-on-year, a significant increase from the 1.7% growth recorded in the same period in 2025.
Growth was driven largely by tertiary industries, which grew by 6.1%, with notable expansions in health (17.6%) and wholesale and retail trade (9.0%). Primary industries also improved with a 3% increase, supported by agriculture, forestry, and fishing. Secondary industries grew by 0.8%, aided by a 3.9% rise in manufacturing.
Within the telecommunications sector, active mobile SIM card subscriptions rose by 2% to approximately 2.79 million. Mobile broadband and fixed broadband connections also saw increases of 2% and 1%, respectively. Total ICT sector revenue grew by 12% during the quarter, supported by N$243 million in investments directed toward infrastructure and network expansion.
