Namma Metro Pink Line completes three-day safety inspection

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has completed a three-day statutory safety inspection of the 7.5-km elevated Pink Line. Led by V. Venkatasubramanian, Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) for the Southern Circle, the inspection took place from October 6 to October 8.

The inspection process included a review of the mainline and civil infrastructure using a motor trolley, an examination of the Kothanur Depot facilities, train trials to test speed and control, and a final review of the Operations Control Centre at Baiyappanahalli. The assessment covered signaling, traffic control systems, and associated infrastructure.

The new Pink Line section connects Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere and includes six stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, and Tavarekere. Once authorized for passenger service, the expansion will increase the total Namma Metro operational network from 96.10 km to 103.60 km.

BMRCL has previously secured a speed certificate from the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) and provisional sanction from the Railway Board. Commercial operations will commence once the CMRS issues the final authorization, subject to the fulfillment of any specific safety observations or conditions.
